Agility, entrepreneurship and other concepts of this type (e.g. dynamie capabilities) have been a response to an increasingly changing, unstable external environment. Traditionally understood ways of functioning proved themselves in a fairly stable, predictable environment. In the conditions of turbulence and hypercompetition only the methods basing on the acceptance of continuous, permanent (frequently radical) change, flexibility, proactivity, risk-taking, innovativeness, etc. can prove effective. They should be perceived as specific, strategie capabilities that enable gaining competitive advantage even in a very extreme environment.
